Getting Fit at Park Lane Elementary!

In March, Park Lane Elementary students will have an opportunity to get fit with a new club for students.  Once a week students will be invited to participate in the Principal Fitness Club.  Ms. Passchier will be teaching kids about exercise and it's effects on the human body.  Students will also be learning about different careers that they could choose in the future that center around health and fitness.  This club supports us in our vision as an Aurora LIGHTS school.

Our families are also getting fit at Park Lane through our Family Literacy Program.  They have recently started doing pilates together.

Watch for upcoming details on this club!

New Technology at Park Lane

Park Lane Elementary was selected to receive two technology grants that total to $50,000!  This is a great gift to our school.  At Park Lane, we believe that we need to prepare our students to compete in a global economy.  To do this, it is important that they have access to the latest technology.  With this grant, we will be able to do that.  Some of the items that will be funded with this grant are interactive white board, netbook, Apple i Touches, digital cameras and much more!

“We’re writing the prescription for student achievement!”

Welcome Back Park Lane Students and Families!

We are very excited for the 2009-2010 school year!  Park Lane had many great celebrations last year, and we are looking forward to many more this year.  This year the theme for our school year is "writing the prescption for student achievement."  As an Aurora LIGHTS school, we are helping our students to see the possibilities in the health sciences field.  As a staff, we have engaged in conversations around how our work as teachers is very similar to the work of doctors.  How will we write the prescription for student achievement?  We will do so by:

  • Engaging students in learning
  • Diagnosing students strengths and opportunities for growth using our assessment information
  • Prescribing effective supports and interventions
  • Individualizing our instruction
  • Reevaluating our instruction and changing our course of action if we are not getting the desired results
  • Collaborating with other teachers and specialists
  • Continuing to learn and use research based instructional strategies

We have high expectations for our students and will work hard to make every student that walks through our doors successful.

We are proud to be your community school and thank you for entrusting your children with us!
